چکیده

In this work, poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)/poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) semicrystalline networks were prepared by photo-cross-linking of methacrylated macromonomers with different molecular weights and in proportions to obtain amphiphilic materials capable displaying properly designed shape memory effects. Networks based on PCL 10 kDa PEG 3 showed suitable thermal mechanical properties well-separated crystallization melting regions achieve a self-standing two-way effect. Particularly, after the application specific thermomechanical history, these are cyclically changing their between two configurations upon cooling–heating cycles absence any external load applied. The effect composition employed parameters, such as applied strain actuation temperature, was investigated shed light mechanism for class materials, which considered promising applications biomedical field reversible actuators soft robotics.

Thermoresponsive semicrystalline poly(ε-caprolactone) networks: exploiting cross-linking with cinnamoyl moieties to design polymers with tunable shape memory.

The overall goal of this study was to synthesize semicrystalline poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) copolymer networks with stimuli-responsive shape memory behavior. Herein, we investigate the influence of a cinnamoyl moiety to design shape memory polymer networks with tunable transition temperatures. The effect of various copolymer architectures (random or ABA triblock), the molecular weight of the cr...

Stress-free two-way thermoelastic shape memory and field-enhanced strain in Ni52Mn24Ga24 single crystals

Stress-free and two-way thermoelastic shape memory, with 1.2% strain and 6 K temperature hysteresis, has been found in single crystalline Ni52Mn24Ga24 . The deformation can be enhanced more than three times, up to 4.0% shrinkage with a bias field 1.2 T applied along the measurement direction, or changed to 1.5% expansion by the 1.2 T applied perpendicular to the measurement direction. For achie...

Mechanism of two Way Shape Memory Effect Obtained by Stabilised Stress Induced Martensite

Two Way Shape Memory Effect (TWSME) involves thermomechanical routines which produce some plastic deformation or complex dislocation arrays during the training procedure. The results of TWSME obtained by these thermomechanical training routines are not as good as would be expected because new dislocations are generated during thermal cycling. These dislocations may interact with those that prov...

Two-way Antagonistic Shape Actuation Based on the One-way Shape Memory Effect

The stress created by the austenite transformation of mechanically constrained NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) significantly exceeds that required to deform (detwin) its low temperature martensitic phase. The one-way shape memory effect can therefore be used to create antagonistic, fully reversible flexural shape morphing structures by assembling opposing pairs of linear contractile SMA actuato...

Two-way shape memory effect of a TiNiHf high temperature shape memory alloy

The two-way shape memory effect in a Ti36Ni49Hf15 high temperature shape memory alloy (SMA) has been systematically studied by bending tests. In the TiNiHf alloy, the martensite deformation is an effective method to get two-way shape memory effect even with a small deformation strain. When the TiNiHf alloy is deformed at a full martensite state, the deformation mechanism is the martensite orien...
